While the Matt Hughes-Royce Gracie fight to be held in May took center stage, there were some other news items this week in the UFC that were important in their own right, including the fact that there will be 12 pay-per-view events in 2006 (presumably one each month), and the addition of California to the rotation of venues, this coming on the heels of a state commission's decision, effective December 28, to allow fights to take place in enclosed cages (such as the UFC's octagon) in that state.
The UFC - and MMA in general - can only get bigger and better; we are not far off from the days when events will be held at arenas like Madison Square Garden and the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
